Have a soft spot for older-adult medicine and continuity of care? Arron is working with a friendly Wakefield practice that is looking for a Locum GP to combine regular surgeries with a weekly care home round.

Key Details:
– Location: Wakefield
– Role: Locum GP
– Rate: £700 per day
– Availability: Flexible availability across 3–5 days
– Working pattern: Weekday sessions, with one morning each week dedicated to the care home round
– Patient workload: Up to 15 patients per surgery session; care home rounds are planned in advance with the home’s nursing staff
– Clinical system: SystmOne
– Start date: Flexible start date to suit you

Key Responsibilities:
– Running routine and on-the-day surgeries for the practice’s adult and family list
– Leading a structured weekly ward round at an aligned local care home
– Carrying out medication reviews and supporting anticipatory care planning for frail patients
– Liaising with the community matron, district nurses and the PCN frailty team

About the Opportunity:
This is a role where you can genuinely make a difference over time. The practice prefers to keep the same GP on the care home round so residents and staff get to know you, and the community matron does much of the preparation beforehand, which keeps the visit focused and productive. Surgery days are well organised, the reception team are experienced at signposting, and there’s always a partner available if you’d like a second opinion. With good links to the M1 and M62, Wakefield is an easy drive from Leeds, Sheffield and Huddersfield, and the practice would welcome a GP for ongoing work.

Requirements:
– Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
– Inclusion on the NHS England Medical Performers List
– Right to work in the UK
– Appropriate medical indemnity cover
– Relevant GP/primary care experience
– Up-to-date compliance
