OOH Locum GP – Birmingham

Enjoy urgent care but don’t want to commit to overnight shifts? Michael is recruiting GPs for evening and weekend work at a busy Birmingham urgent treatment centre, where every shift has senior support on hand.

Key Details:
– Location: Birmingham
– Role: Out-of-Hours GP
– Rate: £90 per hour
– Availability: 3–5 days available, with flexibility
– Working pattern: Evening shifts and weekend day shifts, with no overnight commitment
– Patient workload: Walk-in and booked urgent appointments, alongside cases streamed through NHS 111
– Clinical system: EMIS
– Start date: Onboarding now for upcoming rotas

Key Responsibilities:
– Assessing and treating patients with urgent but non-life-threatening problems
– Working alongside emergency nurse practitioners, paramedics and the shift lead
– Making safe decisions about onward referral to ED, same-day emergency care or specialty teams
– Keeping clear, accurate records and handing over to patients’ own GP where needed

Rotas are released well in advance so you can choose shifts that suit your week, there’s a shift lead on every session, and the multidisciplinary team shares the workload properly rather than leaving you to manage the queue alone. It’s a great fit if you’re building a portfolio career or want to top up your daytime sessions with some variety. The centre has on-site parking and good transport links into the city.

Requirements:
– Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
– Inclusion on the NHS England Medical Performers List
– Right to work in the UK
– Appropriate medical indemnity cover
– Relevant GP/primary care experience
– Up-to-date compliance
