Want out-of-hours work that’s focused on clinical decision-making rather than time behind the wheel? Karl is recruiting GPs for an integrated urgent care Clinical Assessment Service in Manchester, where shifts are built around remote assessment with face-to-face support close at hand.

Key Details:
– Location: Manchester
– Role: Out-of-Hours GP – Clinical Assessment Service
– Rate: £90 per hour
– Availability: 3–5 days available, with flexibility
– Working pattern: Evening, weekend and bank holiday shifts, with overnight shifts optional rather than expected
– Patient workload: NHS 111 call-backs and video consultations, with base appointments booked where an examination is needed
– Clinical system: EMIS
– Start date: Induction dates available now

Key Responsibilities:
– Clinically assessing patients referred through NHS 111 by telephone and video
– Deciding on self-care advice, prescriptions, base appointments or onward referral
– Offering advice to nurses, paramedics and pharmacists working within the service
– Keeping clear records and handing over to patients’ own GP practices where needed

About the Opportunity:
This service is well run and properly staffed, with a clinical lead available on every shift and a call queue that’s actively managed rather than left to build up. Rotas are published weeks in advance, so it’s easy to plan shifts around daytime sessions, family life or other professional roles. The multidisciplinary team is friendly and experienced, and the variety of cases keeps every shift interesting. The city-centre base has parking and good Metrolink connections.

Requirements:
– Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
– Inclusion on the NHS England Medical Performers List
– Right to work in the UK
– Appropriate medical indemnity cover
– Relevant GP/primary care experience
– Up-to-date compliance
